Switch PPC Managers Without Starting Over: A First-30-Day Plan

Switching who manages your paid search shouldn't require handing over passwords, rebuilding every campaign, or losing years of performance history. A careful takeover starts with access, evidence, and a written plan.

Before the switch: make sure you own the account

Confirm the business has administrator access to its Google Ads or Microsoft Advertising account and retains control of the payment profile. Keep your historical campaign data. Use platform-supported access or manager-link invitations rather than sharing login credentials. Different platforms have different access models; confirm the appropriate permissions before granting them.

Days 1–7: establish the baseline

Record what the account looks like before changes: campaign names, spend, existing conversion actions, targeting, top search themes, lead sources, and any known tracking gaps. Verify whether current lead counts represent inquiries or real qualified opportunities. Flag changes that would affect a live business before making them.

Days 8–14: prioritize, don't panic

A new manager may find real problems. That does not mean every campaign should be rewritten immediately. Group proposed work by urgency: tracking errors and unsafe settings first; clear waste and high-intent opportunities next; more speculative tests last. Agree on priorities before implementation.

Days 15–21: change deliberately

Implement approved campaign changes and keep a short log: what changed, when, and why. Watch for unintended consequences. If the account is small or lead volumes are inconsistent, avoid claiming certainty from a few days of data.

Days 22–30: report what happened and what's next

Share spend, tracking health, lead indicators, changes completed, unresolved risks, and the next recommended actions. A first month may reveal measurement issues rather than deliver instant growth. The point is to create a stable operating rhythm.

What to ask before paying a new provider

Who keeps billing control? What permissions do you need? How is the management fee calculated? Which campaigns are included? What work is excluded? How can we leave if it isn't a fit? A serious provider can answer these in writing.

Bottom line

A takeover should make the account more understandable, not more mysterious. At Arc Ascend Labs we look before we change anything, get access the official way, tell you the price up front, and follow a careful first-month plan.
